Dr. Javier Fariñas is an interventional cardiologist with the University of Miami Health System and Jackson Health System, where he serves as an Assistant Professor on the Clinical Educator Track and Associate Director of Complex Coronary Interventions. His clinical and academic interests include complex coronary artery disease, mechanical circulatory support, cardiogenic shock, and innovative approaches to improving cardiovascular outcomes.

He completed his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in 2025, followed by an advanced fellowship in complex high-risk indicated procedures (CHIP) and chronic total occlusion (CTO) interventions in 2026.

Dr. Fariñas is committed to medical education, research, community outreach, and mentorship. His research includes clinical trials and studies in interventional cardiology, pulmonary embolism, cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, and the prevention of contrast-induced acute kidney injury. He has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and presented at national cardiovascular meetings. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions, and has served as a teaching fellow and participated in community cardiovascular outreach and mentorship programs. His commitment to education and service reflects his goal of advancing patient care and preparing the next generation of cardiovascular specialists.

During his free time, Dr. Fariñas enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines, playing live music, and spending time with family and friends.
