My research involves basic and translational studies in inflammation and cancer. Currently, we are exploring how surgical stress and inflammatory pathways alter the immune response and distant metastases in colorectal cancer. The ultimate goal of our lab is to combine novel immune adjuvants with existing chemotherapy/immunotherapy platforms in patients to improve outcomes in this common and deadly malignancy.

Dr. Dosch is an assistant professor of Colon and Rectal Surgery for the DeWitt Daughtry Department of Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Dosch received his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida before continuing as a resident at the program in General Surgery. Here, he developed a strong enthusiasm for gastrointestinal cancer research and was subsequently engaged in research as a T32 fellow at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He went on to ultimate complete a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology with his dissertation work  focused on  inflammatory cytokine signaling in gastrointestinal cancer influences tumor-stromal-immune interactions that promote resistance to chemotherapy and targeted immunotherapy. Subsequently, Dr. Dosch completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, MO where he became proficient at managing complex patients with colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and an array of benign intestinal and anorectal pathologies. His current practice consists of running a basic/translational research laboratory, teaching and mentoring students and residents, and providing excellent clinical care.
